"We are best friends. We always agree with each other. We are making the same patterns so we can make them into a line. Dilky looks at mine so that she knows which colour to use next, then I look at hers to make sure we have it right", said Manawatu

                                                                   Tricky work!

It's really hard to cut fabric with scissors. These children tried lots of different ways. It worked best when someone held the fabric really tight and the other person snipped with the very end of their scissors. This showed a great growth mindset in action as children solved the problem.

                                                              Packing up!

Part of our learning and Managing Self in Exploration Time is helping pack up. Sometimes we just want to keep on playing and sometimes we let other people in our group do all the work.
Helping to pack up when we are asked shows respect for the teacher, children and classroom we are in.
These children are all helping pack up really well.
You have to be very careful when you pack up paint.
Sif and Ife are using their hands like plates underneath the cotton buds so that no paint gets on the carpet. They are putting the cotton buds in the correct rubbish bin.
Thanks for putting the marble track away so well Tyler and Sol. They are dismantling their work before they put it in the box otherwise it won't fit!
Poor old Shakaiah had to pack up the Lego all by herself! She did a great job and didn't give up!

What does Managing Self look like when we are playing together?

The boys playing with the pirate stuff realised that they needed to keep their legs in so that there was a good space for things in the middle of the group.
If you want to make a structure with the noodles and skewers then you need a good space between you all.

2018 Exploration time in                                         Tipuranga Team

Welcome to our team blog. We will post learning, thinking and working photos, comments and ideas as they happen throughout the year.
Our Inquiry learning is based on practicing and understanding the Key Competencies of the New Zealand Curriculum.
You will notice that each of our classrooms has a sub page as well. Look there for information, links and learning specific to each class.

In these first few weeks we are practicing the Key Competencies of Managing Self and relating to Others.

The children using the pirate kit in Room 5 did a great job of  talking,co-operating, and sharing the
equipment together.
